Camborne Green & Clean

The group was formed in January 2015 to positively address the issues of litter and weeding through voluntary action in the Camborne parish local environment and includes car parks, streets, lanes and open spaces.

Cornwall Council decided not to fund street weed spraying outside the town centre due to ongoing budget pressures and towns and parishes were invited to fund the weed spraying service instead. Camborne Town Council declined the invitation as the cost of £120 per km and due to the size of the Camborne parish, the cost would be prohibitive, especially as they are already taking over devolved services from Cornwall Council such as the Library, Camborne Rugby Ground and various open spaces.

The group meet throughout the year and with over 40 volunteers we involve all our members in regular, organised litter picks and weeding sessions and unfortunately the continual battle against fly tipping.

The next organised litter picking dates:

  • 15th July 2018
  • 12th August 2018
  • 16th September 2018
  • 14th October 2018
